Birthplace: Town of Outskirts, Alexandria
Occupation: Royal Knight turned Explorer
Orientation: Bi-romantic
Veil is a fiercely intelligent and idealistic woman shaped by a profound sense of purpose. Though she carries herself with poise and discipline, there's a quiet restlessness beneath the surface. A yearning to explore, to understand, and to claim the truth of the world beyond the Barrier. Guided by duty but driven by curiosity, she seeks meaning not just in battle, but in forgotten places, unspoken histories, and the lives of those she meets along the way.Kind-hearted and fiercely loyal, Veil devotes herself fully to those who earn her trust. Beneath her elegant demeanor lies a sharp wit, and a sharper tongue reserved for those who betray her sense of justice. Though a gifted duelist and master of many weapons, Veil values precision and restraint over violence, seeing combat as a test of discipline rather than a path to glory. She avoids needless bloodshed but never turns away from a challenge when it offers a chance to grow or to protect what matters. When not traveling, Veil can often be found in Eorzea’s taverns, where she enjoys meeting new people and listening to their stories. On occasion, she embraces the role of tavern bard, entertaining patrons with tales of her own adventures and exploits, weaving her love of storytelling into the fabric of her travels.

Veil Ori’anami is a 28-year-old woman, born and raised within the walls of the Everkeep. Though she carries the poise and discipline often associated with nobility, her origins are far more unusual. Her mother, trapped within the Barrier as it formed, was a gleaner from a distant land called Sharlayan. Her father was a businessman from La Noscea, caught in Alexandria by the same circumstance during a tour of Yyasulani. In this shared struggle, they met, fell in love, and raised her as their only child.Veil grew up surrounded by stories of the world outside—tales of clear skies, endless seas, and forgotten civilizations. These stories stirred her imagination and filled her with a longing to see more than the storm-wrapped dome of home. Still, she loved Alexandria deeply. It was her foundation, and its people were her own.At seventeen, she joined the military as a hunter, passing her exam with high marks. Determined to prove herself, she trained relentlessly and quickly gained a reputation as both a technologist and a weapons expert. Deft with manipulating the electrope bracelets on her wrists, she could summon whatever type of weapon she needed depending on the situation, easily setting her apart from her peers.During a visit to the Thunderyards, Veil caught the attention of Queen Sphene. The Queen was known for speaking directly with the people regardless of rank. She saw potential in Veil and, after several conversations, invited her to join the royal guard. Veil accepted without hesitation.Under the guidance of Lady Lydia Drakos, one of the Queen’s knights, Veil was trained in the use of holy magicks. She found it uniquely calming. In the midst of battle, it gave her a sense of clarity and purpose. The skill proved invaluable, as most of her missions involved protecting the Queen during her travels or confronting feral threats beyond the Everkeep.By the age of twenty-three, Veil was formally named a Royal Knight. While her responsibilities remained similar, the weight of her station increased. She was entrusted with greater authority, stronger feral souls, and more dangerous missions. It was then that she learned the truth behind the King’s growing ambitions. He sought to invade the world beyond the Barrier and claim what he believed he rightfully deserved. Veil opposed this immediately. Her worst fears were confirmed at twenty-five, when she and the rest of the Queensguard accompanied the Queen to observe an attack on the neighboring nation of Tuliyollal. What she witnessed devastated her. Innocents were massacred and their souls harvested to feed the King’s ever-growing hunger for power.Unable to stomach her King’s slaughter of innocents, Veil chose to resist in secret through an alliance with a faction called Oblivion. Not long after the King’s campaign in Tuliyollal failed, he turned his attention inward, targeting his own citizens. People were murdered in cold blood, their souls taken to sustain his regime. During the chaos, Veil made a choice that changed everything. In an effort to save a dying woman whose soul stock had run out after being repeatedly gunned down by a mechanical soldier, she removed her regulator and gave it away. It saved the woman’s life. From that day forward, Veil refused to wear another. Her silent rebellion became her vow.She had seen the danger regulators posed when left in the hands of a tyrant. If no one wore them, then no one could use them to control the people again. She began to advocate for their removal from Alexandrian society, confident the Queen would have agreed. She never saw Queen Sphene again. Rumors say the Queen fell that day, giving her life to protect others. Veil believes this with all her heart and carries her legacy forward through her actions—through every life she protects and every battle she endures. Now Veil walks a different path. She conceals her origins, traveling the outside world under the guise of a curious wanderer. The truth of her heritage is carefully hidden behind a composed exterior and a fabricated past. Her mission, however, remains unchanged. She walks to protect. She walks to learn. She walks to honor the woman who believed in her.

Dueling Prodigy
Veil thrives in contests of skill, where sharp minds and sharper blades meet. She avoids unnecessary bloodshed, but never backs down from a challenge. Proficient in multiple weapon styles, she views each duel as a test of refinement and mastery.
Secrets: Veil is hiding something. Her ability to wield holy magicks raises eyebrows, but she’s quick to brush it off with vague answers or change the subject. She carries herself with the poise of someone trained, not self-taught, leaving many to wonder where she truly learned her skills.Technology: Veil has a deep and genuine curiosity for the technology of the Source. While robotics and energy systems from her homeland are second nature to her, Garlean magitek and Allagan aetherochemistry are both foreign and fascinating. She’s often found tinkering with old devices or picking the brains of engineers, eager to bridge the gap in her knowledge.History & Ruins: If there’s a ruin to explore, Veil is already halfway packed. She’s deeply invested in the histories of the Source’s civilization, especially those touched by lost or hidden knowledge. From Allag to Mhach to Amadpor and beyond, she’ll take any excuse to step foot in ancient places and piece together their stories.Geo-Politics: For someone who claims to be a traveler, Veil asks a lot of questions about nations, factions, alliances, and wars. She listens carefully, takes notes when she thinks no one’s looking, and seems to be mapping out a much bigger picture. She says it’s just curiosity, but it’s clear she has a reason.Aspiring Minstrel
Veil’s love of music blossomed after her departure from her home. Inspired by the bards of Etheirys, she taught herself to play the harp. Though still learning, she enjoys performing for others and often expresses her emotions best through song.
Style Connoisseur
Beneath the armor lies a keen fashion sense. In her free time, Veil is a devoted fashionista, rarely seen in the same ensemble twice. She enjoys curating outfits for herself and her friends, though her critiques can be sharp when someone’s wardrobe choices miss the mark.

Communicate: If something is off or something offends you, please talk to me OOC. Let's resolve it. I'm still fairly new to this scene, so guidance is always helpful.Subject Matter: I'm generally ok with most subject matter. Hard topics such as drug, alchohol abuse, abusive childhoods, usual triggering events are fine by me usually. I just ask you stop if I ever need you to stop. It's rare but it happens.Hatefulness - I won't tolerate homophobic, xenophobic, racist, sexist, misogynistic (woman hating) nor misandrist (man hating) comments. I especially won't tolerate transphobia. None of it's called for. OOC Hate is never called for. Ever. Also...please respect lalafells.Violence: Veil is a duelist. She does enjoy a good duel, so feel free to challenge her. If you decide you want to be more an adversary then an ally, she will fight back with all she has. You can try to kill her, but obviously her death is off the table.Insider Knowledge - I love to write about Veil's adventures when I can. As a result the readers may have some insight into her that their characters may not necessarily know nor should they know unless Veil talks about it! Feel free to read them to gain insight OOCly, but leave that knowledge at the door the second the RP tags go on.Romance - I am quickly learning how important to character development a romance plot can be and am very open to it under the right circumstances. Generally, I will refuse the idea unless characters had met in the world first and spent some time talking to one another. I will also refuse the idea if Veil is currently involved with someone. Please do not approach me simply and strictly to engage in ERP.RPs Accepted:
